Thank you for voting for us to open for KISS!

the dead girls and kiss 12.10.09I just wanted to say a quick than you to everyone out there who voted for The Dead Girls to open up for KISS last Thursday at the Sprint Center. The show was absolutely amazing and KISS and their crew were very cool and helpful all day. (I’m working on a blog about it right now, but am worried it may be overkill right now…)

Since I’ve been obsessed with the band ever since I was six years old (They are pretty much the reason I started playing drums in the first place), it was a pretty big deal to me. So again, thank you to all our friends and fans, 101 the Fox for selecting us as a finalist, and KISS themselves for being so hospitable.

Here’s a photo we took with the band in full make-up minutes before they took the stage. Click here to go to my Facebook page and see a chronological slide show of our amazing day opening for KISS.

thanks again!

The Dead Girls - Te Quiero EP

te quiero dead girls ep

Kansas City’s weekly culture rag The Pitch has just reviewed our newest EP release. We’ll be playing our KC EP release party Friday night May 15 at The Brick. Come check it out–we’ll be playing stuff from both EPs and the upcoming full-length! Here’s the review from The Pitch:

After recording 16 studio tracks and a bunch of acoustic-oriented home tracks, Lawrence’s the Dead Girls (formerly Dead Girls Ruin Everything) decided to hold off on a full-length and hype up their eventual album with three EPs. Te Quiero is the second installment of the EP series, and it does exactly what it’s supposed to do: Build excitement. The title track (the only EP cut that will eventually land on the album) is the group’s catchiest to date; no small feat given the group’s hook-packed set lists. You’ll likely find yourself humming the chorus, Te quiero/Hope I said that right, or perhaps hearing echoes of Brendan Benson or Jason Falkner when the guitar hook kicks in. (more…)

Review by Pete Dulin. The title track “Hair Trigger” demonstrates the bravado of Hawk and Longbottom leading on guitar as Melin lays out a hard-pounding rhythm on drums. Within the space of three-and-a-half minutes, the guys mark their territory with well-placed guitar licks and power vocals that push harmony to the forefront.
